Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) Unveils New Streaming Box Where Users Are Able To Play Games

CES, 2017 has been home to a variety of unanticipated unveilings, from various companies, involved in various industries. Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) is no exception to this. The entertainment giant unveiled its very own streaming box at the event, on which users will be able to play games.

The device itself is mainly designed for children and features various pre-loaded games, from a variety of Disney original movie/content. In addition to pre-loaded games, there is also a variety of pre-loaded movies/series on the device, as well as the capability to stream music.

The company has yet to unveil specifics on the device, such as what content, games, or music will be pre-loaded on the device. However, the company did reveal, at the unveiling that the device, will be going for a retail price of $99.

The device also has original controllers, which will be made available for purchase. However, the entertainment giant did state that they have ensured that Bluetooth controllers can be synched for gaming pleasures on the device. The pricing for the Disney controllers has yet to be disclosed.

The release date has also yet to be announced by the company. However, it was stated that consumers can anticipate the release of this gaming box, sometime throughout 2017. The device is undoubtedly designed more for the entertainment of children, who are fascinated by content, which is developed by the entertainment giant.

In the unveiling, very little was revealed. However, it was made clear that this is the first-of-its-kind product for the entertainment giant.  The unofficial name for this product is ‘The Disney Kids TV Box”.

In a statement, the company spokesman at the CES event, stated, “If you have kids who enjoy Disney properties. This is the way to set them up, with a media streamer that really caters to their tastes; not just an extra one you happen to have around.”
