Visa In Efforts To Popularize Contactless Payments For Public Transport

Financial services firm Visa has disclosed that it has inked agreements with 14 tech firms drawn from 10 nations as part of a program to promote contactless payments solutions in public transportation. The program will see Visa partner with firms working to popularize the use of contactless payments in public transportation across the globe.

Visa initially announced the program last year in November alongside Worldline and Vix, the initial partners. The certification for the program will set a benchmark which will ensure that transit firms implement an experience that is convenient for commuters and which uses solutions that are secure.

Europe, South America ad Asia

Some of the partners that Visa is working with include A S Ridango, a tech firm based in Estonia which develops transit services and solutions; BBPOS International Limited, a firm based in Hong Kong which specializes in distributing mobile point-of-sale devices and technology; Conduent Business Solutions, a French-based company which offers a variety of business process services in areas such as automation, analytics and transaction processing and Digicon, a firm based in Brazil which suppliers automatic ticketing systems, electronic time clocks, parking control systems, traffic controllers and access controllers.

Other firms include FIME which is based in Frrance, Poland’s Mennica Polska and India’s Paycraft. In Brazil Visa is partnering with Planeta Informatica and Perto while in the United Kingdom the financial services firm is collaborating with T-Systems Ltd and Smartran Ltd. Schiedt & Bachmann, a firm based in Germany that offers intelligent ticketing systems has partnered with Visa as has Spire Payments which is based in Luxembourg and which offers software and hardware solutions for points-of-sale.

Allianz Prime

Visa’s efforts in contactless payments for public transportation comes in the wake of the financial services company collaborating with Allianz Partners to launch Allianz Prime, a mobile payment solution. Users of the solution will now have the ability of making mobile payments that are secure at any terminal that is contactless-enabled across the globe.

“With the support of our digital partners Visa and Wirecard, the Allianz Partners Innovation Team has created Allianz Prime. A solution that provides our customers with freedom and security via safe and insured mobile payments off- and online, anytime and anywhere,” said Allianz Partners’ innovation and market management head, Matthias Wünsche.

Users of Allianz Prime will not only be able to make offline purchases using the solution but also in online shopping. The digital and virtual Visa card that users will get can be topped up using the credit card or from a bank account.
